VideoLifestyle's Young Videomaker production courses aim to impart the skill of professional videomaking to students from the primary, secondary and tertiary school levels. The Young Videomaker courses are tailored to the needs of the students as well as the projects that they will be undertaking. This is to ensure that the students learn as much as possible with hands-on application based training.

The VideoLifestyle “Young Videomakers Production course” brings students into the videomaking arena. Students will be introduced to the processes involving in professional videomaking and eventually learn how to showcase their videos to their target audience.

 Before the commencement of any course, Videolifestyle.com will usually conduct a meeting with the teachers & heads of departments in order to gain a larger understanding of the needs pertaining to the school & students. VideoLifestyle.com will then tailor and adjust the course structure to fit the requirements set by the school. This is especially important so that Videolifestyle.com can focus on the aspects of production that is required by the students, maximizing the amount of time & resources in the process.

After a short orientation session, students are introduced to the tools that they will be using throughout the length of the course. (Length of the course depends on the period & availabilty) Most of the time, VideoLifestyle.com will make references to the equipment available during the training portions. The picture on the left depicts an example of trainer Derek Yeo giving an orientation of the camcorders the students will be using.

The pre-production process, known as the Producing Stage of production encompasses topics such as concept development, scriptwriting, storyboarding, music scoring, location scouting and talent scouting.
This is the 1st stage of a professional videomaking production.

Students will learn how to plan a video properly and pen down these plans in order to produce an effective video. As the students are busy making their plans, trainer Derek Yeo observes and makes sure the students don't make any mistakes when it come to planning their videos. Often, he would point out any potential pitfalls and workarounds when the students are faced with difficulties.

The next stage of video production is taking footage, the Camcorder Techniques Stage. At this juncture, the students will be learning about basic camcorder techniques as well as the technologies surrounding camcorders. This portion of the class will also see students putting into practice the lessons they have learnt from the Producing stage.

Students will also have hands on sessions with the camcorders and equipment as provided by the school. Through the hands on sessions, VideoLifestyle.com would guide the students and train them in the fundamentals of shooting good video. Here, trainer Alvin Ang is seen
correcting a student's mistake in adjusting the camcorder settings.

After the hands on sessions, students are usually encouraged to take some footage for their own videos.

Once the students have finished taking their footage, they will then start to refine their videos as the next step of creating their masterpeices. This is known as the Editing Stage. Student's are introduced to the editing software provided and learn about editing techniques such as capturing and interface familiarity as well as adding media (music, titles, pictures), video effects and transitions.

Students will make use of their own footage taken during Stage 2 and start the editing process to refine their videos. The students will use the knowledge gained during the first 2 stages during this process as well. Trainer Derek Yeo is seen providing some tips and tricks, helping the students understand the editing process as well as handle any problems that might arise during this phase.

Showcasing your videos are just as important as creating them. Deciding on the mediums used (VCD, DVD, Email, etc) is just only one of the many factors involved. This is the Showcase Stage of professional video production.

At the Showcase Stage, Videolifestyle.com will teach students various ways and methods in order to showcase their videos. Topics such as types of files formats to output your video into as well as the media channels available to showcase their videos.

Students will also showcase their videos at the end of the class. Students are also encouraged at this point to provide feedback whlist watching all the videos created during the production course.

VideoLifestyle.com hopes that at the end of the Young Videomakers Production Course, students will be able to shoot, edit and showcase videos with the relevant knowledge. Students will be able to appreciate and critique videos as well as understand the technology trends of today. Ultimately, they should be able to create better videos and make full use of the equipment that they have been provided with.
