At VideoLifestyle.com we hope to structure our camcorder reviews from a different perspective.

Rather than stress on the technical aspect of each camcorder like most other review sites, our main objective is to focus our attention mainly on the user functionality, handling and actual quality of resolution of each camcorder rather then the technical jargon that we are plague with on a daily basis. Honestly, the fact is 90% of all users have no idea what is useful and what is not.

All our reviews featured here are conducted by Derek Yeo of Treasure Productions who owns a production company offering videography services, system integration, editing services and training for almost ten years now.

An owner of no less than 50 cameras, his style of reviews are very much tailored towards a personal style and geared towards a wholistic view of these products.

Derek aka Video Cobra has also done various reviews for  magazines and also the once popular computer times (now known as digital times) on past and present trends of digital age.

Derek is also a regular feature on the video presentation circuit and have conducted quite a fair share of software lauches for household names in the industry such as ULEAD, PINNACLE and also SONY Creative Software.

With more than over 15 years of camera handling experience and technical knowledge, we hope that the site will be helpful for those who are keen in videography, video editing and the all genre of visual artform.

As more and more digital cameras possess the ability to shoot better full frame videos, we hope to also feature some reviews of such cameras in the near future and also to help those in making the right decision before they jump or in their selection of these technologies.

We hope that you will find the information on this section useful and do drop us a note or join our forum if you feel that you need some honest old fashion advice.

We also encourage you to join our forum as a member and share this video making experience with our E.D.S.B.V community.

My name is Roger Soh aka Anakin and i have been shooting video for over 8 years now. After I left my job of almost 18 years in a technology company, I decided to pursue my dream career of being an event wedding videographer.

This is when i turn to www.VideoLifestyle who adviced me on investing in a high definition camcorder for my business. Today, I own the Sony HVR-Z1P and I love the camcorder totally . This camcorder has served me well now for over two years and a true work horse since my first consumer HDV camcorder a Sony HC3. Though I did not have a big budget then, I am proud to say that I own quite a few interesting gadgets today like the Tiffen Merlin Steadicam device, omni tracker, wireless audio system and on my way to purchase my next HD camcorder.

I run a company today known as Reel Motion HD and shoot and edit weddings as well as produce corporate videos as well. Thank you Derek/ VideoCobra for being my mentor as well as advisor all these years.

Roger Soh aka Anakin / Reel Motion HD
My first HDV camcorder is a Sony FX1e and that is what Derek aka VideoCobra recommended me when i first started my video production company.

He explained to me the difference of the FX1e over the HVR-Z1 but I decided to take his advice since i was on a tight budget. I still use this camera today and I still love this camcorder which still surprisingly serves me well after all these years.

Today, I proudly own along with my FX1e,  two Sony HVR-V1s and also a Sony PMW-EX1 of which I have just acquired and also purchased through VideoLifestyle.

The reason why I trust and believe in the decisions given to me by VideoLifestyle is the fact that their reviews are practical and hands-on. Their advice makes sense and Derek Aka VideoCobra is truly a passionate videographer himself. So, it is not just camcorders, that i would turn my attention to Videolifetsyle for guidance but for everything and anything that is video related under the sun.

I met Derek of Treasure Productions more than a year ago where I got my advice to buy my camcorder that I am still using right now. It is a SONY 3CCD VX2100E.

I have never regretted the day I have taken his advice in making that investment. I wanted a camcorder that had the ability to give me outstanding video quality as well as low lighting capability. I also wanted a camcorder with a good battery life.

Indeed it was a tall order to fill but he did just that. I ended up with the VX2100E which I truly say is an awesome camera with the makings as one of the best in my opinion in $$$$ and in quality and low lighting capabilites till today.

I get over 700 minutes from a Sony 970 battery on my VX and let me stress again...that is almost the entire duration of a wedding event I shoot with still power to spare.

The camcorder is also not bulky of which I find very important as I can slip into my padded haversack
where I can carry around all day. I had also recently acquired a new editing suite from VideoLifestyle
and which I can confidently say beats the previous solution that I was using which had given me so much trouble.

I want to end by saying that VideoLifestyle will always be the place and the people I will consult anytime
I want to buy something video related.   Thanks Derek

VideoLifestyle is my choice when it comes to
the latest technology practical answers and the right recommendation
in buying a camcorder.

My first camcorder was a PD170P and I met the good people of VideoLifestyle who strongly recommended me this camcorder for my kind of work.
Plenty of low lighting work and also a camcorder with
exceptionally good battery life.

I have used the SONY PD170P for a year now and I am moving on to High Definition Video.

The reviews here are honest and truthful and honestly
I really don't care about all the technical jargon.
Tell me what it useable, practical and that supports the kind of work I have to handle with a great workflow and that is all I care.

I now own the Sony HVR-Z1P and I have not regretted the day VideoLifestyle recommended me this camcorder for my purpose transiting to High Definition.

I  was looking for a camcorder that
could shoot underwater and produced good quailty.
Seemed like all the other marine biologists use those heavy ten thousand dollar camcorders,
I couldn't afford that for my projects, so I turned to Videolifestyle review section for help.

After reading about the Sony HC90 review, I asked Video Cobra if that was the right choice for me.
He recommended me the Sony HC90 and told me that it was sufficient as I was only planning to use the camcorder for shallow diving trips as my school projects revolved round shell organisms and corals.

I only ended up investing less than 2k for my camcorder and my underwater housing. Now, I look forward to all my outdoor diving trips as i can get the images I want with the functions of my Sony HC90.

 LOW LIGHTING IS SIMPLY AWESOME!

I specialize in event coverage
and used to own the single CCD Panasonic Camcorder.
For months the confusion of which 3CCD camcorder
I should invest in for my work.
On a restricted budget,  I consulted VideoLifestyle
review sections and also for opinions from 'BOSS'
himself and finally settled on the SONY DSR-PD170P.
I can only say that I am simply overwhelmed with the results of the video quality, battery life and the also the ease of use. I compared the footage with my old Panasonic
and all I can say is..
Thanks Boss!

I specialize in event coverage, and have covered events such as Samsung, Zouk Out,
Kinderland and many more.

VideoLifestyle is the only place I go when it comes to my video needs, advice on a new camcorder a video light or even a new editing solution. The camcorder I use is a Sony FX7 and i decided on this HDV camcorder as i wanted something light and manageable and still allowed me a certain level of manual control over my video shoot.

Indeed, I must admit there are better camcorders out there today but what I have learn and will never forget, is an advice given to me by VideoCobra and that is "if you are not comfortable with the tool you have to handle, you will never do a good job even if the tool is worth ten times your own "
