You capture the HV30 footage as normal, the data rate for HDV and DV is quite similar so no problem to go through firewire. If you have Vegas, you can edit HV30 footage without buying any other software. Below is the proof. I was overseas in March, and managed to shoot, capture and edit the videos below while I was away. The F1 cars video was actually done at Zurich airport while I was waiting for a flight.

This camera is really nice, I would recommend it to anybody who is looking for the best picture possible from a small cam.

Hi xtravel, that jerkiness is due to the framerate on Vimeo. Dun worry about it. Anyway, HV30 is a very good choice. Go ahead n get it.. Affordable n good.

Yeah, the jerkiness is one of Vimeo's "features". Hope they will fix that one day.

What's worse is that you can't even use IE7 to download the mp4 files now, due to a security "upgrade" on their site.

I have another HV30 video uploading now. I did not do any colour correction or anything, so you will be able to see what great results this little cam can produce. I'll post the link later when it is uploaded.

Hi xtravel. I usually set the project to the HDV preset for 50i or 25p (which I created myself), basically to match the media I am using. This is 1440x1080, with pixel aspect ratio of 1.333 and frame rate of 25 (Upper Field First for 50i) or 25 (Progressive for 25p).

Yes you can output SD to any size you like, but you are not creating any new video data, so it will just look like SD blown up to HD size. No way will it be as sharp or clean as HD or HDV.
